Objectives

 

To outline quantitative (i.e. measurable) parameters as indicators of environmental health in Israel for 2020, while describing and analyzing the environmental health indicator systems published by the World Health Organization (12 core indicators, divided into many sub-indicators), the California Department of Health (a different system for the most part than that of the World Health Organization, including 18 indicators divided into 7 main categories) and a specific indicator system developed by the US Department of Health & Human Services known as Healthy People 2020.

 

Implications /Applications

The establishment of a joint program between the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Environmental Protection covering all aspects of intelligent planning of "Environmental Health 2020" with defined and measurable goals.

 

Status

Submitted to the Ministry of Health at the end of 2007.
