Report Title
Comments on Building Material Paragraph in "ICRP Draft "The Scope of Radiological Protection Regulations" and on "ICRP Recommendations on Radiation Pr.
Professional opinion
Dr. Eli Stern
Objectives
To present the remarks and criticisms of the undersigned parties on the drafts of two publications by the ICRP (International Commission on Radiation Protection, an advisory board whose recommendations are generally unquestioned and accepted as binding in both international and national radiological standards). The remarks address the issue of quantitative weighting of human exposure to radionuclides in construction products, as well as the issue of a quantitative definition of a "dose constraint" to exposure of members of the public to one 'practice' or one activity with radioactive material that emits ionizing radiation. Some of the remarks made by the undersigned were, in fact, applied in the final versions of the ICRP recommendations.
Implications / Applications
The principle remark - quantitative regarding the need for a "single value" for "constraints" - i.e. 0.3 millisievert / year per person, was accepted by the ICRP.
Status
Submitted in the Fall of 2006.
