7th Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR) Conference of the International Biometric Society (IBS), Tel-Aviv 2013

The 7th Conference of the Eastern Mediterranean Region of the International Biometric Society (EMR-IBS) took place in Tel-Aviv. The conference had more than 168 participants from 25 countries and 5 continents, including the guest of honor, IBS president, Clarice Demetrio. The co-chairs of the conference were Havi Murad and Laurence Freedman from the Biostatistics Unit of the Gertner Institute. The latter was also the chair of the Scientific Committee.

Mobi-Kids project about to start

Extensive international data collection on potential risk factors for brain tumours in young people started in the Cancer and Radiation Epidemiology Unit, headed by Prof. Siegal Sadetzki.

The MOBI-KIDS study aims to gain important insights into potential environmental risk factors that might increase the risk of brain tumours in young people (aged 10 to 24 years).

Dramatic Decline in Mortality Among the Severely Injured Casualties in Israel

The National Center for Trauma and Emergency Medicine Research has recently published for the first time, a 10-year national report on "Trauma Injuries in Israel 2000-2009".

The report analyzes injury trends in Israel during the first decade of the 21st century. This Report reviews data from 17 hospitals participating in the Trauma Registry. The purpose of this report is to provide a basis for decision makers to establish relevant national policies.
