Maternal request for delivery by caesarean section was discussed at a recent meeting of the "Social Justice Forum" at the Gertner Institute. Dr. Galit Hirsh, Saralee Glasser and others presented the topic.  Dr. Ofra Golan Adv., was the moderator of the discussion. Some of the factors leading women to request caesarean section are: fear for the welfare of the fetus and information on fetal distress that can arise during vaginal birth, general fear of the birth process and accompanying pain apparent in women during their first pregnancy and expressed fear by women who experienced traumatic delivery in previous pregnancies.
