Forum Forecasting Emerging Technologies – November 2011 Print

This enigma and Israel’s role in influencing and taking the lead on the subject will be examined during the workshop.
In a world of uncertainty, policy “weight-lifting” and spiraling rises in the costs of healthcare. There is a need to ascertain whether it is worthwhile adopting innovative medical technologies, their consequences on the individual and the health system, and their long term benefit/utility.
The crux of the workshop debate focuses on comparing different methodologies in the world and their potential application in clinics in Israel, formalizing work principles and recommendations for decision-makers on future activities in the field.
For the first time, Israel will be conducting this unique workshop on this subject, with the participation of specialists from overseas, in order to discuss different aspects of forecasting medical technologies.
The workshop aims to present trends and methodologies in medical  forecasting, formulate terminology and serve as a basis for establishing a national horizon body for the health system.
The Israeli Center for Technology Assessment in Health Care has an active role in the preparation of the scientific material and the international correspondence in the organization of the workshop, initiated and headed by the Branch for Medical Technology Policy at the Ministry of Health.
Participants at the workshop include the workshop include senior members of the health system involved in decision-making on the adoption and incorporation of innovations in the health field.
